600 miles in 24 hours, 4 bands, and a great message by this rock star.
Creation rocked.
Starfield put on a killer set, as did the David Crowder Band. I was blown away however, by a new band from Texas, Leeland. Did I say blown away? Did I mention Leeland?
This group of talented dudes flat out rocked the Gorge Amphitheater. They are simply refreshing both musically and individually.
Please visit their site and grab the album, it’s going to be very, very big.
I’ll post some images in the next day or two from the trip and… maybe some video ; )
Thanks to Jose and Bob for having me out, and a shout out to Phil Wise for letting me grab a bit of gear while mine is in for repair.
–Sooner rather than later
we’ve been taking some much needed time off. Nikon is in possession of all of my gear as they clean and tweak some things and it’s forced me to slow down.
I’ve been amazed at how much more time I spend enjoying things, rather than trying to capture them, or try to do both.
so… memories imprinted in the mind or memories captured with a camera, which lasts longer?
God is good. 105,000 people showed up this weekend. Pictured are the FMX dudes, legendary coach and congressman Tom Osborne with travel thomas, a very serious Jeremy Camp rockin with travel thomas, world champ skater Jud Heald taking my Nikon for a ride and the award winning southern/country rock band Heartland.
An estimated 40,000 people converged on the Qwest center grounds today in HOT Omaha Nebraska.
The crowd braved the heat to check out the Livin It crew’s skate, BMX and FMX demos. The main stage saw performances by American Idol’s Mandisa, Salvador, Building 429 (shown below with Travel Thomas), and Toby Mac.
Check the pics…

I’m flying.
God bless United and their coffee, it’s like drinking a bottle of water AND having caffeine all at once. Saves space on the pull down tray too.
Check the blog, I’ll be throwing out some pics of the festival I’m shooting this weekend. Some skating, BMX, FMX (crazy dudes who let go of moto’s 60′ in the air) and some great bands. Best part? Shooting folks who are in the spirit while Luis Palau dishes out the Word.
Blessings–and check back!
How often do I run into someone that doesn’t want their picture taken?
Everyday. Modern media has blasted us with a fictitious portrayal of beauty, and most feel they don’t fit the mold. Most don’t, nor should they.
Do you want to know what I think is beautiful? My wife, because of her heart. My child, because of his innocence, even when he’s not innocent. The woman behind the counter who sits there not only because her job requires it, but because she feels comfortable with a barrier between what is seen and what is unseen.
To that woman I say this: I have photographed beauty of all kinds, I can say without a doubt that true beauty isn’t on the cover of magazines, not gracing the TV ads every night and usually doesn’t show up in a pop up window. It’s behind the counter, beneath the skin and it’s being bombarded with a message that it no longer exists.
Every time I raise the camera and look through the viewfinder, I’m given a brief glimpse of what’s inside. It may appear for a brief moment, but it exists. Don’t be afraid.
Lauren and I had the pleasure of shooting a campaign for Hospice Center yesterday. Hospice is an amazing organization, more info here.
The staff and volunteers at Hospice are simply some of the greatest people we’ve had a chance to meet. The comfort they provide patients and family throughout the difficult end of life season is a blessing.
Hospice, thank you.
Had a sweet senior session this evening with a couple of Mt.View rockstars…
We braved the traffic in the Old Mill and shot off a few images while Alison Krauss sang to us in the background. It was off to Shevlin Park after that, but not before we grabbed a few high fashion shots with the ringlight near the Sparrow Bakery. Thanks Lillie and Clayton! Here are a few quick ones from the eve…
Lauren and I have had a blast hangin’ and shooting singer/songwriter Paul Wright. Paul gets a ton of national airplay for his tunes that help us roll through life in our flip flops. You can check him out at his website (hyperlinked above) or at his myspace page.
Some of Paul’s tunes are featured on our website, they can be featured on your IPOD as soon as you go get them…
Blessings,
–b
